After the Rain 2

The late summer weather comes in from the northeast, and as the showers come and pass, the rain leaves the salt marsh awash in pristine color.  The wind leaves the water ruffled without much reflection which accents the color and shadows of the marsh.

Piling Up

Number 16 of '21 in 21' Cloud Challenge

In the heat of the mid afternoon, the clouds begin to build and pile on one another with the promise of rain.  The tide is high and the storm's majesty is reflected in the still water.  The heavy haze masks the details and mutes the blazing colors of summer.

Tide Water Evening

This view of the clouds over the tide water was begun as an exercise in Karen Margulis' workshop.  I was only able to do the clouds in the time we had.  I added the landscape and water in my studio.
With this view of the marsh, I wanted to capture the exuberance of the evening sky with the expectation of coming rain.

This is an image I have done before.  The view is from the board walk over the marsh at Tide View Park.  Looking north in the late afternoon, with the tide going out, the marsh puts on a great display of oranges and purple.  The heat of the day begins to fall, the moving tide and wind ruffle the water.  What more could I want?

"Clear, Bright, and Breezy"

This painting was done as part of the "Color the Coast" paint out.  It was painted at Dutton Island Preserve.  The tide was out and the air was amazingly clear and bright.  It was an ideal October morning.  By the time I finished, the wind had picked up considerably, and the tide had come in which changed the waterline and destroyed all the reflections.
